Default Changing crystal in Modules

I have a chance to buy a JR radio with a module, but the crystal in the module is not what I have my other planes on. Can I swap out the crystal in the module without any harm? Or should I sent it back to Horizon to have it retuned? I know you cant swap out TX crystals without getting retuned, just wondered if you could change them if a guy were using a module type radio. I f I do have to send it in to Horizon, what would be the cost and the rough turn around time. Thanks ,JT

The FCC has a law against changing the crystal in a transmitter except when performed by an authorized service center. You will need to send it in for retuning. The cost would be the price of a crystal plus around a unit or 2 of labor, which each unit is $7.50, plus shipping. That is if there is nothing else wrong with it. The average turn around time right now is 12 to 15 business days.
