JR XP652 problem & XP9303 question
Hello to all!
I have a 5yr old JR XP652 transmitter. Its has been working very well up to now, but since a couple of months ago my planes seem to roll by themselves now and then! This has happened on more than one plane, on new and old receivers (JR R600's & R700's).
I have lost two aeroplanes in this way already. The radio doesn't seem to respond for a couple of seconds when this happens. I have had the transmitter at the service centre twice already, but they say nothing is wrong with it. However, the problem persists!
Has any of the other pilots with this transmitter experienced the same problem? Does anyone know what could be wrong with it?
I have a second question: Has the JR 9X transmitter been replaced by the JR XP9303? I know at some point in time there was a JR 9X II. I can't seem to find the 9X on Horizonhobby.com anymore. How is the XP9303 better than the 9X?
Thanks for your replies in advance!
Cheers

RE: JR XP652 problem & XP9303 question
I'll answer the 2nd question first......
When the 9X first came out, Horizon didnt take it on board as it was not too much more advanced on the 3810 (8103) which isnt suprising seeing as the software was based on the 3810. So... the rest of the world had access to the 9X until such time as JR in Japan made some fundamental changes in the software. Horizon and JR worked together on this until Horizon was happy. Thus was born the 9303. JR then decided that the 9303 should be made available to the rest of the world, and so with a few changes in the Software, the 9XII was released.
I havent come across any reported problems that you are describing, are you flying at the same place each time ? Are you using the same channel each time ? It could be interference on that channel. try changing your channel to see if that alleviates the problem.

RE: JR XP652 problem & XP9303 question
Mac Man
I saw the 9X on Horizon earlier this year! I even downloaded pictures of it from horizon.com When the 9X II was released in my country earlier this year, I wanted to see what horizon had to say about it, but could only find the XP 9303 on the website.
I have flown at two different sites very far apart and this has happened on both of them.
Thanks for ur response!

Superairborne:
I had to send my JR 652 back for warranty servicing right after I bought it 5 years ago. My X-tra 300 was performing uncommnaded roll and yaw motions like you mention in your post. Very sporadic, very scary. Anyway, I found the culprit by tapping the back of the transmitter case (lightly) after a successful but very hairy landing. When I did this, all the controls, especally the rudder, went haywire for about 1/4 second.
The folks at JR's repair center re-soldered a cold joint somewhere in the transmitter section for me and it's been trouble free for the last 5 years or so.
Perhaps you have the same problem. Regardless, I hope you find your culprit.

RE: JR XP652 problem & XP9303 question
I had problems with my 652 holding settings. I discovered my internal memory battery was shot. I sent it back to the folks at Horizion and they installed a new memory battery, and it was pretty cheap too, only 50 bucks to completely re-do 2 transmitters, check out the receivers and install new memory batteries and I got all this done in about 10 days, i was very pleased.

RE: JR XP652 problem & XP9303 question
Hey guys
I've been writing to a lot of people trying to find an answer to this problem...
I'm trying to set up my XP652 to work with my heli.
Any advice as to what receiver i should buy?
Anyone heard of a 35Mhz XP652, because mine came with a 35.14Mhz crystal and obviously doesn't work with my walkera 36(35.040Mhz).
As far as i can find out, JR radios work mainly on 72Mhz.
Any help/advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Winstar

No haven't had a chance yet, still gotta read the manual.
So are you saying it should work with the default walkera crystal?
Thanks, Cheers!

RE: JR XP652 problem & XP9303 question
Winstar,
If you can wait till Tuesday, call on 01628 760430 (MacGregors) and ask for Customer Services. 35.140 MHz is UK Channel 74.... 35.040 MHz is channel 64, if you want the 652 to talk to the receiver, get a JR Transmitter crystal on channel 64.
JR Radios are built to work on.... 27, 35, 36, 40, 41, 72 & 75MHz (ie for Global useage)
