Default JR receiver interferance

I have built a 1200mm boat and fitted a 15HP Yamaha outboard motor internally so I can tow lines off our local surf beach. I fitted a 6 channel FM JR radio in it. The problem I have is when the motor is not running all the controls, throttle, rudder, line drop work fine but when I start the engine interferance from something makes the servos wander anywhere making it uncontrolable. I removed the receiver away from the boat and ran long servo leads and this worked fine even with motor running. Is there any way I can stop this interferance.? Thanks Suky

It is likely a problem with the ignition system of the engine or a bad bearing or any number of other possibilities. You might try some RF filters such as these on the throttle servo, and lead from the battery to the receiver, etc.

Thanks very much, I will get some. I have since changed the spark plug leads to silicon type same as cars. This has helped a lot.

Hey SUKY,
Could you please post a pickture of that 1200mm boat carrying a 15 hp outboard?
1200 mm is 1.2 meters apprx. 4 feet, and I think that a boat that size might have a little trouble carrying a 60 lbs. outboard.

But then again I could be wrong. It is known to have happened before

Steinar,
I have a digital camera, but not sure how to get picture on this, Im not sure how much the motor weighs, inside the boat is just the powerhead and below a cut down leg.It floats and motors very easily but I need some weight to get thru breakers.
