Default broken antena

I broke the antenae on my receiver, what guage is the receiver antenae, and what length should it be? It is the standard pcm receiver that came with the radio. I have some 22 guage wire, sould that work? I was planing on soldering the new antenna to the old, just outside of the reciever, is this ok or should it be soldered directly to the board in the receiver?
Thanks,
Kurt

The guage of the wire should be 22-24. I would recommend using stock JR wire , it is part number JRPA170. Feel free to send the receiver in to have the antenna replaced, generally our service center will replace the antenna at no charge provided there is nothing wrong with the receiver.

Splicing on the old antenna wire can work, but it adds a risk of breaking the antenna easily due to vibration. It is best to replace the whole antenna.

I recently discovered one of the antennas had broken off my AR7000 receiver. Don't know why... no crash or any other mishap. Range check was still OK and everything else seemed fine. I'm not sure how long I'd been flying that way but it operated perfectly. My question is..... how important is it that I get this repaired?

Do you think your plane is worth the risk?[sm=idea.gif]

That's kind of a "no brainer".

I sent it into Horizon Hobby over a week ago.
