I am close to buying the Horizon DX 6 but I would like to check one thing. Is this the only computer transmitter that does planes, helis and sailplanes?

No, many computer systems are capable of multiple model types. The DX6 has air and heli types, but it could be used for simple sailplane set ups as well. It is intended however for slow and park flyer aircraft, and micro and mini helis.
