JR S400 Buddy Box
Our club bought a JR S400 to use as a buddy/trainer box. It came without a battery but it appears it has to have a battery for it to work as a buddy box. It there a way to work around this. Our Futaba buddy box does not need a battery in it to work. Can you simply jumper the battery connector in the S400 or does it have to have a battery in it? We have a weather proof box we keep trainer cords and buddy boxes in and don't have a way to charge them at the field except for quick field charging which is supposed to be hard on batteries.
Thanks for any info.

RE: JR S400 Buddy Box
Groovy, thanks for the info. I put a channel 49 crystal from one of my Hi Tech radio's in it and didn't get the response I'd hoped for. But, this radio might require a different crystal or isn't compatible with the Hi Tech receiver in the plane I tested it on. The control services responded with gimble input, but not in a consistant fashion.
Thanks again.

RE: JR S400 Buddy Box
Well, that would make sense. Just to double check, I called my local Hobby Bench and posed the same question. The answer was no, I couldn't use it as a transmitter. I told the guy I'd installed a crystal and got some response. He replied saying the buddy box wasn't tuned in or something to that effect.
I guess I'll buy a JR crystal and give it a try. It can't hurt anything.
