Thanks Nick ,, that was what I was afraid of ,, can't have your cake and eat it too The 2.4 spectrum will be worth the change ,, just have to keep the 10 X a little longer till I can afford to change em all over.

The standard 12X will support APCM (10 Bit 12channel PCM)

Tony, my math is poor so this may be wrong, but are you saying that APCM is 1024 resolution (10 bit)?

Nick, that is correct. No increase in resolution over SPCM. The reason they have had to go to APCM (Its just a different letter) is so that the 12 channels can be processed in a single frame.

Okay, I see. Thanks for the clarification. So, aren't the MX-24 and MX-22 over ten channels as well? If so, what did they use as an encoding scheme? Or was it split onto two or more frames?

I must say that the higher resolution of the DSM2 scheme is very appealing, as is the ServoSync feature, especially for eCCPM helis, which are the only type I have.

Danny, it's been a few months since the press release. Any additional pictures or info on the 12X that you can update us all with? This thread has nearly 5k views so at least a few folks are interested!

I'm sorry to say that I don't have any additional information to share just yet. As this system is not due in till later in the year, I wouldn't expect more information to be released for some time.

I've looked at the advance list of features on the 12X at the MacGregor site. Still preliminary I realize but I find it odd that model memories will only be 20 and that JR did not incorporate some sort of flash card so unlimited setups could be installed. Seems pretty foolish to me. I'll be hanging on to my 9303 for quite a while it seems.

I am very sorry to see the JR12 has done away with the touch screen. Darn, I have always liked that.
I am interested in a new 12 2.4 but will still keep my touch screen JR10 SX.

Now, like my 9303 do I hold this little button down and turn on the transmitter OR do I turn on the transmitter and push one of these little buttons....oops...darn. GIVE US A TOUCH SCREEN JR!

The main problem with the 10X style touch screen is that it is susceptible to liquid ingress. Replacement screens are not cheap.

The only time you would need to press a button during power up is to access the system menu.

That simply means that they had a bad part or design, and not that anything is wrong with touchscreens. Look at most of the fast food places these days - they use touchscreens because they hold up better in wet/dirty grubby fingered environments . . .

JR would just need to use a screen with a seal around the perimeter so that liquid could not get in between the layers like happened in the 10X, that's all . . . no biggie, and hardly a reason to abandon one of the best features of the top of the line JR radios!

Is the programming of the 12X as simple as that of the 10X (i.e. same programming just two more channels)?

Havent had a sample arrive here yet, but would imagine that its going to be very similar to the 9 series transmitter ( 9X/9XII/9303 ) but until I get to see one "close up & personal" it is just an assumption I'm sorry to say.

Danny, have you seen one close up yet ? Anything further to add ??

I don't have anything to add at this point on the features of this system, features of the system have not yet been determined/released.

Thanks guys. If you have a chance for input into the programming of the 12X please voice my easy to program comment (i.e. like the 10X).

Bobby,

Have you tried programming the 9303 yet ?

Have had Futaba converts ringing us up asking how to do things and what embarasses them most is at the end of the call they say " I didn't realise it was that easy !!"

If you havent had your hands on one, try one out as soon as you get the opportunity. In many respects it is easier as you don't need to memorise quick codes. (Plus the scroll bar is faster than paging through the 10X menus).

Humm, I didn't realize that. I do have some friends that fly in the upper IMAC classes that have 9303s so the next chance I get I'll ask them to let me see how they do the programming on the 9303.

Thanks for the info.

I do know you have to have a light touch on the roller or you enter areas you didn't intend to
Didn't get a chance to play with it long enough to get to know the programing logic ,, seemed hard to me

The trick with the roller is to control it at the end of the roller. This way by changing the angle of your thumb you can click or rotate.
If you have your thumb in the centre, them as you say, you start visiting places you don't want to see !!

Hi Nick,

Long time.............. the 12X version that is ending up at Horizon is going to be 2.4 GHz ONLY ! HH are NOT bringing in the "standard " version. The "standard" version will be available to the rest of the world. Some time later (once Horizon have had their tranche of the 12X 2.4GHz) the 2.4 GHz variant will be available to all and sundry.

So I guess it's time for me to make the switch to Futaba after being a JR guy for more than 15 years. I want a 72Mhz tx with more than 10 channels. I don't want 2.4Ghz!

I have enjoyed my 10X for the last 10 years, but if JR/Horizon isn't going to provide what I want, I guess its bye bye to JR.

The programming with a roller is far and away faster than the touch screen programming. I can program a 9303 for a model in half the time or less than a 10X due to the speed of the roller. It is definitely not a downgrade, it is an upgrade.

As I've said previously, there are no new updates, information on the systems will be released at the appropriate time.

So the 12X will be released as a "standard" version to the rest of the world. Is this what I see listed as the Graupner MX-24S ? Is that the same as the 12X?
Can I buy a Graupner MX-24S from the UK and put a 72Mhz synthesized module in it for use in the USA? Maybe this is my solution.

Jim
