Does the 649 PCM receiver require a grey or red crystal? What is the difference, and what receiver would you need the red crystal for?

I have a spare crystal (red) and wondering what receiver it would be needed for?

The 649 receiver and all other JR aircraft receivers besides the 940 and 945 use the grey crystal. The 940 and the 945 use the red crystal. The grey crystal is a single conversion crystal, where the red crystal is a dual conversion crystal. They are not interchangable.
