[8D]Using the model select function described on page 30 of the XP6102 manual everything goes as indicated until I get to instruction #4. It says to press the Down and Channel simultaneously to exit the model selection function and establish the model displayed as the new current model. I don't see any button or control labeled Channel so I am unable to complete this step. Maybe I'm dumb as a stump, but I can't get it right. Help!

Kojak, i have a 6102 and i see just what you said in my book also, i dont know why it didnt catch my eye also but i think they mean press the down and select key simultaneously, im almost positive because this is a common pair of buttons that work together.

i have 7 models already programed into mine and dont remember any hitches

You can switch the TX off, & back on again, that does the same thing.
