DataSafe PC Interface and JR 9X II Radio

I bought a DataSafe PC interface to save my JR 9X II radio settings. I made the assumption that because the JR 9X II was almost identical to the JR XP9303 it might work - WRONG!!!
Surely with the 2 radio models being almost identical it would be easy to fix this? Do I really have to go and buy a JR XP9303 to use the DataSafe interface?

It's such a pity that the boys in the back room can't tweak the software to accommodate us JR 9X II owners (it is a top of the range JR product) in this part of the world. We live in hope!!
