The last info I received on the 12X ( Tuesday 10th April) from JR Japan was that the 12X is a synthesised system along the lines of the 7202 (2720). I believe that if they went the modular route, then a new module would have been needed as the current systems are designed for a maximum of 10 channels.

Thanks Mac Man. Looks like the end of support for us 50 mhz flyers. There will be an upside to this. I'll be able to pick up 10x's and 50 mhz receivers dirt cheap as others move to 2.4 ghz or to the synthesized 12x. Since I'm the only Ham in the county, I have no interference problems!
