Default JPR 55 Base Loaded Ant.

Danny,

I just bought a JR base loaded ant. Is it acceptable to do a radio range check without an antenna ?

I have been told it will do no harm unless you leave the X-mitter on without an ant. until the battery is run down, what is JR's take on this matter. I have 3 MAx radios and a 421EX&652.

If you use have the transmitter turned on without an antenna for an extended period of time it can overheat the RF components and cause the system to lose its tunning. For a short time such as doing a range test, it is just fine to do that.
