Default JR boxes aren't the same?

Danny, why would the trim tabs be set different from one box to the next? I've got a JR Quattro that I use with my Alpha 40 trainer simulator and the trim tabs are in nuetral but when I use my S400 box with the simulator and calibrate it the trim tabs are really off when I fly on the simulator. I'd like to use the S400 for a buddy box but don't know if it's safe or not. Does the S400 need tuned or what?

While I am not Danny, I suggest you check the subtrims - they can change the center points of the channels.

At least on the computer radios, they are a means by which you can apply trim without the tab - IE, it let's you do exactly what you are seeing - set the trim where you want it with the tab centered. Some regard it as a crutch for getting the mechanical setup right, but that's not what we are talking about here. On my 8103, the menu is specifically "Sub trim" . . . .

Both the Quattro and S400 aren't computer radios. Maybe there's internal adjustments on those trim tabs?

Better wait for Danny then . . . I don't know anything about the non-computer stuff - never even touched one.

The older style JR radios had what they called subtrim extentions on the trim levers themselves (Century 7 radio had them). The trim lever itself was able to adjust beyond a set limit by pulling up on the trim levers and moving them to either side of center. While this was good for the time, it's still not the sub trims we enjoy on today's radios.

Later...

Scott!

Center points are controlled by potentiometers, and these can vary from system to system. It is not unusual for them to be different.

Danny, Can I use the S400 box as a buddy box while I use my quattro as the main box with no problems then, it sounds like I can?
