Default Jumping Servos

Danny,

We have a club member who cannot stop his servos from jumping. He has sent the radio in to Horizon and three receives into Horizon and it is still jumping. Any Suggestions?

by jumping do you mean rapid back and forth motion or moving rapidly in one direction a short distance? also what size of battery is being used abd is it all servos or just a couple?

Danny,

It is a rapid back and forth motion and he is using a standard 600ma NiCd battery. It is just a couple.

Could it be too much stress on the servos?

I would check for any slop in the control system, arm fit on the servo , and gears for any excessive play. Also I would recommend checking all your servo connections (unplug them, re-install a couple times to be sure the pins are clean and making good contact). Also check your current draw with an amp meter to be certain the current draw is not excessive. Also be sure that your servos are not mounted too rigidly (servo screws too tight, mounting rails tight against the servo, etc). If the oscillation stops by touching the surface with your finger, it is likely a slop, set up, or electrical issue. If it does stop, it won't happen in the air due to flight loads, but I would recommend giving everything a good checkover.
