Default Battery for AR7000

Hello,

I am installing an AR7000 in my OMP 47" profile Edge for the first time and would like some suggestions on RX batteries. I have three AR6100's running in electrics with BEC's and ran my AR700 in a T-REX 600 Nitro with a 7.2V 2100 MAH LIPO with no problems, however I am unsure on a rx battery for my small glow plane.

Should I use a standard 4.8 volt , 6 volt, or 7.2 volt lipo with regulator? I would like the lightest setup possible but don't want to risk a lockout. I will be using five standard servos on the aircraft. I am thinking of a small 7.2V lipo with a 6V switch regulator.

Thanks,

Chris

I'd suggest a 6V battery or a 2 cell lithium with a regulator, but be certain that the regulator can handle the current draw of the system.

Thanks! I went with a TP 7.2V 1320MAH Lipo, MPI switch, and the new Castle BEC. It's all weights less than a 4.8V nicad. Does that sound good to you?

To be safe use a watt meter in line with the battery and make sure the battery voltage on a charged pack, motor running and the servos working iand it does not drop the voltage more say 1 volt. That you gives a nice margin of error and be much kinder to the Li-Poly pack. While the Wattmeter is in line and the motor NOT running check each servo in turn and make sure when the stick is at max the meter shows a peak draw and then retuns to zero.

I am running the Castle BEC at 6.0 Volts and it dropped to 5.5 Volts loaded with a 3 Amp load from my Futaba digital battery tester. Does that sound good?
