Default DX7 with long servo extensions

Hi Danny - I have a DX7 in a new boomerang Elan that has long elev and rud servo extensions that have chokes in them. Everything is working great, but plane has not flown yet. I understand that the chokes aren't required with 2.4, but would it hurt to leave those servo extensions in, or do I have to redo it all and replace them?

If they are a built in choke in the lead (electronic, not a filter such as the external JR filters) then it is not recommended to use them. Standard or heavy duty extensions such as those from JR would be recommended.

For what it's worth, I've been flying a Baby Boomerang and an Elan with Spektrum with no worries.

I simply took out my old 35Mhz gear and plugged in the DX7 and it's been 100% OK since. I do use 6 volt batteries to ensure not dropping the supply voltage below the dreaded 4 volts whatever servos are in use simultaneously.

No chokes or isolators, just long runs straight to the servos. I'm now going totally 2.4 on my Elans and XL demo planes.

Alan - thanks fo the reply - do you use voltage regulators? I'm planning on using 2 6 volt batteries - ni cd - and no regulators.

Danny - thanks.

I was advised against voltage regulators. Don't ask me for the technical details, but evidently they can drop out if several servos are used together and the current gets too high for them to handle.

I use 6 volts straight from a 3600 single NiMh or nicad battery.

Please explain.
I use Two switches with voltage regulatore with two batteries for my two 1/4 scale airplanes

Properly sized regulators for the model work fine, the regulator must be capable of handling the current draw of the system without dropping in voltage. You can use a current meter in line and load the servos to test this.
