I've been wondering the same thing...since the timer can be started with the bottom button on the interface. Not using the timer while flying with a student can be dangerous. It seems that I'm always flying to the point where I'm getting that hesitation before I run out of gas when training a student, then landing.

I've been just inhibiting my timer when students are on the buddy box. Being able to use the timer would be beneficial.

Without using the trainer function or snap function, no there is not.
