6 Volt for Spektrum
I have a DX-7 and haven't yet used it at the field, but have wondered what two questions:
1. What is the benefit to going to 6v versus 4.8v? I have a mix of digital and non-digital servos (I will be keeping the digital together in one plane and the non-digital in another.)
2. How does one charge 6v batteries (I have just the standard (original/slow) Spektrum DX-7 charger.
3. How can I check to see if my batteries (4.8 or 6) have enough charge prior to a flight? I know I have to use a multi-meter but how do I actually check?
Thanks for the input!

1. Faster speed/torque for the servos. Less chance of low voltage during flight. But, a good, charged 4.8V batt should be good for most aircraft up to 90 size.
2. http://www.rcbatteryclinic.com/nova.htm or http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=362288 These are links to some of several programable chargers which can be very nice. You can often find good used ones on *Bay or RCU classifieds.

RE: 6 Volt for Spektrum
Thanks Airbusdrv! So you are suggesting that I don't need to move to 6v, as I'm pretty much going to be sticking to 40 size aircraft (and will be careful to try to avoid binding with the servos.)
I particularly appreciate the links.

6V is not required, either 4.8V or 6V will work fine. You do however need to make sure that the battery pack size (mah) and type is adequate for the model.
