Default Mixing Elevator and Aux3 - 8103

Hi:

I'm in the process of setting up a World Models F3D. I'm setting up the controls (ailerons/flaps) like the Ultra Stick. I'm following my Ultra Stick programming instructions for my 8103 transmitter and am running a 649 pcm receiver.

The only difference between the Ultra Stick and F3D is that the F3D has two elevator servo's.

Instead of running a servo reverser I decided to plug the second elevator servo into the Aux3 channel. I mixed the Elevator channel with Aux3 (master/slave respectively).

However, I do not get full up travel on the 2nd elevator (which is plugged into Aux3) but I do get full down travel.

So my question is can I use Aux3 they way I described above and if so how do I fix the travel problem? Do I have to increase the throw in the Aux3 channel to compensate?

Thanks in advance.

Below I've included some instructions for mixing dual elevators. It uses aux 2, but you can easily substitute aux 3 instead. It may be that one servo is simply at its end of movement or a difference between the 2 servos. Make sure your programming is similar to what is described below, set your sub trims at 0 or close to 0, and that your travel adjustments for each channel are close. If after this they are uneven, you can use a little travel adjust to correct it. If you have any further questions please feel free to give one of our techs a call at 877-504-0233.

Dual Elevator Servo Set-Up

Now we will set up the elevators, so that we will have channels 3 and 7 working together. You will plug the right elevator into channel 3, and the left elevator into channel 7. Press the up key till you get to mix 5 or 6. We will use 5 or 6, as they are including mixes, meaning the elevator trim lever will operate both channels. If you do this mix on any other mix, the elevator trim will not work the second channel. Press the + key and change the first channel until it says elev. Press the channel key over to the second channel. Press the – key to change the second channel to SPOI. Make sure that beside SW: it says ON. If not, press the select key till the arrow points at SW, and press the + key to make this say ON. Press the select key till the arrow points at Rate: and make the percentage 100% by pressing the + key. Then move the elevator stick, and the arrow will move to the 0% in one direction of movement. Make this 100% also with the + key. Now we have the elevator working on both channels, but the aux 2 knob will operate the second channel. To eliminate this, will use another mix. For this mix, I would use mix 3. Press the DN key to get to this mix. Once at the mix, press the + key till it says SPOI for the first channel. Press the channel key so that the second channel is underlined. Press the + key and make the second channel is SPOI. Then press the select key till the arrow points at Rate. Press the – key till it says -100%. Then rotate the aux 2 knob, which is on the top left hand side. Rotate this until the points at the 0%. Press the – key till it says –100% also. This completes the set up of the elevators.

Danny:

I've found my problem but I'm not sure how to solve it.

Please note I'm in glider mode per the ultra stick programming instructions.

I took a look at the monitor screen and noticed that the aux3 channel is about 75% to the right. However since I have inh all of the pots I cannot adjust the aux3 channel to center. I turned all the pots on and I still could not adjust aux3.

I also tested the two elevator servos through a servo reverser plugged into the elevator channel and all is well.

I would rather not use a servo reverser so is there any way to adjust aux3 while in glider mode?

Thanks in advance.

You will need to do the mix channel aux 3 to aux 3, with -100% values switching the gear switch to both positions described above to correct this.
