receiver crystals
what is the difference for a crystal in a fm reciever and a pcm receiver aren' t the crystal just receiving signal and the reciever decodes the difference so there should not matter what crystal is in the reciver as long as the radio is set in proper mode or am i more confused than yout tech dept.

There is no difference at all, in fact there is no such thing as a PCM crystal. They are the same part. There are single conversion crystals and dual conversion crystals for receivers. The type needed depends on the receiver. The only receivers JR makes that use the dual conversion crystal are the 940 and the 945 and these are in a red plastic case. All other receivers use a single conversion crystal which is in a gray plastic case.
