RE: SPEKTRUM 2.4 ANTENNA ORIENTATION
Sure! I have used that exact same orientation on a couple of my planes.
I do try to get as much separation between the antennas as I can. In fact, I usually buy an extension that allows me to get a LOT of separation. That makes it easier to mount, as well as having a better link (or so I have read). I have NEVER had a problem with any of my JR or Spektrum SS - rx or trx.

One of these,
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=SPMAJST3
or this,
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodId=SPMAJST6
Makes the installation even more flexible.
Mated to a servo extension of the desired length and you are home free.
Want to put a Satellite in a wing tip this allows for it.
I am surprised it is not more commonly known.
