Century 7 PCM TX receivers?
I must be living in the past but who can resist the multitude of cheap used Century 7 PCM transmitters on the market nowadays. My question is wether there are any other receivers that will work with them besides a Century 7 PCM RX of which there seem to be very few left intact.
Just to cloud the issue I heve heard that the NER-627X might work... but only if its a XZ or G or some such. I happen to have a 627X with PCM written right across the top and so far when they are switched on it just gives the TX blank stares.
Is there a guide or something that explains what the different models and compatabilities of the rather convoluted line of JR radios?
Thanks,
Tim

RE: Century 7 PCM TX receivers?
Tim, only "Z" PCM receivers will work. J.R. switched to "S" PCM when they came out with the 388 around 1993-4. Most of the transmitters since then were both "Z", and "S" PCM, until the 9303 which is only "S" PCM. If you use the PPM mode of transmission all the FM receivers will work.
The resolution of Z is 512, and the S is 1024. That is why J.R. moved toward S type PCM. If you look there are still a lot of good Z type receivers out there. Hope this helps
