Default DX7

I am using a servo in each wing. With the flaperons on I get both servos going the same direction if I reverse one of the servos I get ailerons but in the wrong direction no matter how I switch the plugs its always the same. How do I get it to work as ailerons in the proper direction.

Thank You

Switching the servo leads in the Rx is not going to change anything if both Ailerons are going in the same direction.

Generally, you connect the Right Aileron to the Aileron channel and connect the Left Aileron to the Flap channel. You need to enable the Flapperon program. If the Right Aileron is going in the proper direction, go to the Reverse program and Reverse the Left Aileron (on the Flap channel). Some Flapperon programs let you set the amount of travel for each Aileron. It usually accepts + and + values, so you can Reverse the Left Aileron there, but usually, Reversing the Left Aileron servo is done in the Reverse program.

If the Flap Switch makes the Ailerons move, you must disable it. Usually you do this first, before you set Aileron servo direction. Usually you set Flap Trim to Zero. In the Flapperon program, set the Flap travel to zero, also.

I see this question asked quite a bit, but no matter which Tx you have, the solution is usually always the same.

If you are not using you Ailerons as Flaps, but sure to turn off the Flap Trim. If you don't, the Flap Switch will change the position of the Ailerons. This sometimes screws up a NewBie when he/she is trying to set up Dual Ailerons.

Try this:
DX7 DUAL AILERONS

1. Go to the Set-up mode (Hold down Scroll and Select keys while turning on)
2. Scroll to the Input Select screen
3. Set AUX#2 to INH, AUX#2 Trim to INH, Flap to System(should be default), Flap trim to INH,
This turns off AUX#2 channel from the lever
4. Do not activate Flaperons. It must be OFF

Aileron Setup
1. Power off the TX and turn on. Go to normal
programming
2. Scroll to Pmix #6. Set Aileron as master and
AUX#2 as slave. Set mix levels at 100%
(This requires movement of the Aileron Stick)
3. Set the Sub trims on the aileron and aux#2 to
match each other.
5. Scroll to Travel Adjust and set the desired
Travel for the right aileron and left aileron
(AUX#2)
6. If the ailerons are backward..go the reverse
Switches and correct

codimasta,
Love your explanation for the dual ailerons.
However, if I want flaps on separate servos, can I mix the gear channel to AUX1 (Flaps) on an AR7000 Rx, and then use the flaps switch on the DX7?
I'd really rather not use a "Y" adapter.

Thanks,
EJ

You should be able to use another Pmix and set Aux1 as the Master and Gear as the Slave. I do not know if you can disable the Gear Switch since inadvertently hitting the Gear switch would cause one of the Flaps to move out of Trim. I do not have a DX7 to test this.

To add Flaps:
Flap Setup
1. Scroll to Pmix #5. Set Aux#1(Flap) as master
And Gear as slave. Set the mix levels at 100%
(This requires flipping of the gear switch)
2. Scroll to Pmix#1. Set Gear to Master and Gear
To Slave. Set mix levels to –100% -100% (This
May require flipping of the Gear Switch)
This will inhbit the gear switch.
3. Set Sub trims on the Aux#1 (Flap) & Gear (Left
Flap) to match each other
4. Scroll to travel adjust and set 100% on Aux#1
And Gear.
5. Scroll to FLP SYS screen, Set the desired
Travel for each of the switch settings.
You can also set any elevator compensation.
Set Right Flap to Aux#1, Left Flap to Gear

Thanks, for the step-by-step. I just wasn't sure if GEAR was a possibility.
