Hi Danny,
Have a friend who might pick me up an 8103 in the US but they only have Mode 2 sets where he is and I am an old Mode 1 flier. What is involved in switching over? Can I do it? Is it a factory only job or is the 8103 sophisticated enought to allow programming this change?

That does require the gimbals to be swapped and the programming reset. You will need to send it in to have this performed. You can fill out this form, and send it in to the address listed to have this conversion done. http://horizon.hobbyshopnow.com/medi...rchecklist.pdf
