Default AR7000 problem

Have an AR7000 that's acting funny. Should I send this in for repair? Or am I doing something wrong.

RX is in an airframe that was fully functional at end of season but bound to a DX7.
I've upgraded to a 9303 and am having problems now that I am trying to bind that RX to the new TX.

When I go to power up the RX I am only getting a single blip of the light on the main unit. No flashing whatsoever.
Have tried 3 seperate battery packs all known to be in good shape and charged.

This is happening regardless of whether I power it thru a chargejack switch or directly from a battery pack to the RX.

Have tried powering it thru both the batt/data port and servo channel ports. Nothing makes a difference. Still get just a single blip when power is connected.

Furthermore will not bind having also tried everything above to do that.

Put the bind plug directly into the BATT/BIND port.

Plug the power into anything else.

I've got a question also......can you bind a 5 channel receiver to a 6 channel transmitter.
Will a single bind plug work for all receivers5, 6, or more channels?
I have a DX5 and a DX6. I'd like to have both planes on the DX6 only. Can I do that?

Bind plug is nothing more than a jumper wire that shorts the signal pin to ground. On all active channel that signal pin goes to an encoder chip that tells the servos where to go when an input is given. On the batt/bind port it goes to a circuit that when that pin shows a ground it puts the reciever into bind mode.

Sebo, where do you fly?

The DX5e is a DSM2 Tx. The DX6 is a DSM Tx. The DX6I is DSM2. Your 5ch Rx will not work with the DX6. It will only work with the DX6i and above.

Put the bind plug into the Throttle slot and the battery in any other and see if that works.

I fly at the GATEWAY FIELD up on Lannie road (By the "P" farm). There is someone out there 7 days a week unless it is in the 30 degree range and the wind is blowing 20 + miles an hour.
Big contest this coming weekend...........All big and aerobatic planes..Ought to be quite a show..........Ron
I plan to be there saturday...at least..The big boys were practicing this weekend.

you can't bind thru a channel port.

again the problem doesn't even get to the point of binding, the RX isn't powering up properly.
You put power to it in ANY slot and the only thing the RX does is give one quick blip of the light.Ditto with the remote.
Almost as if polarity were reversed.
Which it's not.
Spoke with Horizon. Had me do everything i'd already done.Told me to send it in.
Something's not right

I just sent an AR6200 back to Horizion with the same symptoms. Called them the other day after they e-mailed me, and they said the reciever was just dead. I did not have the receipt and thought it was about 9 or so months old. They simply said that they were going to just replace it. Not really sure how it got that way. flew it on day put it away and a week or two later, it was dead. Horizon has always treated me great with service and giving me the benefit of the doubt.

Sodbuster,

Just read your post. I was having exactly the same problem. I would plug the bind jumper into the charge jack and all I would get is one flash and then nothing. After alot of screwing around I found that my bind plug was going into the charge jack, but not far enough to let the pins make contact. My charge jack is very tight for some reason. Make sure your bind plug pins are not bent or broken and plug into the batt/bind slot on the rx. Maybe you have allready tried this, but I thought I would share, because my bind plug was not making contact with the pins, and all I would get is one flash and then nothing.
