11.1 Lipo in a JR/Graupner TX?

I got some Lipos for my Graupner (XPS) /JR transmitter, and have been told that I will burn it up with 3 cells.

Is there any known problem with this? Any suggestions/advise/warnings?

Thanks in advance...

Even though the manufacturer and the distributor says you're not supposed to... :)

Well, I took the liberty to contact Graupner myself. Heres the reply:

Hello,
I have a MX16IFS radio.
Is it ok to use the 3 cell 11.1 v Lipo battery in that transmitter?

So, simple and to the point. I put the lipo back in, and used it so far 3 flying days without fear.

If you are concerned about warranty, then do what the manufacturer says. I have had no issues while using 3cell LiPo Tx batteries. You can always just charge the batteries to 11.7v or install a couple of Diodes, in series, to drop the voltage. There are threads on this subject.
