JR10X for helis and airplanes
 

Danny,
Do you have the firmware upgrade for radio JR 10X so that the radio can be use on both helis, airplanes and gliders? I have a JR10X and I couldn't use it for airplanes (with all its airplane functions). JR seemed to learn the lesson with 8103.

There is no such upgrade available. All 10 series radios to date have been dedicated model type. You can use the 10X heli system for most aircraft however, simply flaten the pitch and tail curves at 0.

Danny, is there any particlar reason they went this route instead of one radio that does it all? I have heard of some that have not bought a 10x because it is one or the other... IMO this was a mistake, but still like to know why. FWIW, I have a 10x air and a 8103H, and am a die hard JR supporter.

It is due to memory limitations. The memory available was used up with the advanced features of each system and there simply isn't memory available for any additions.

Sorry to make the point, but just because the memory is used up appears to be a rather poor excuse.... Surely JR could have used a larger NVRAM chip?? Perhaps some additional features could then have been added so we don't have to waste all the free mixers trying to do switch assignments etc. Then the mixers could actually be used for mixing channels... you tend to run out of free mixers pretty quickly on a 10 servo glider or scale model.

Once again, sorry to make the point - but in the computer industry these are known as hacky solutions that should (eventually) be fixed.

The heli verson would not have the built in functions such as flaperons and dual elevators.
