Hi, This is Vera from KingTech. Barry is out of country right now and I am the only person in the office. I am in the office between 11am-6pm, if you call during the business hours and no one answers the phone, most likely I am busy with other customers. Email is the best way to communicate with me. Thank you.

All is well with the service center. I was out of town to get my Daughter married off and to see my mother in the nursing home. I have been working on the engines as they came in and trying to get them back as soon as possible to the owners. Barry out of country in the land Down Under and may have forgot to unforward the KingTech landline from his phone before he left. So the bottom line is, we are all doing well and your turbines will be back very soon!!

Best Regards,

Dirk

I could be reached through Skype or Line, barrymhou and barryhou1 respectively. I'll be back on coming Monday.

Thank you,
Barry

Spoke with Dirk yesterday and I feel confident he has fixed my issue. That was my first time speaking with Dirk, he is very knowledgeable, helpful, and also very pleasant. Big thanks to Barry and Dirk for their outstanding service!

Got my K140 back, re-installed, and five flights this weekend Big thanks to Dirk for the telephone support and reminding me that I have to re-learn the ECU after factory maintenance (I'm so embarrassed!)

I've been doing some research on fuel and cannot get confirmation on whether or not it is okay to use the Red Dyed Kerosene or can I only use K1 Clear Kero? The Red dyed Kero is almost half the price for a 5 gal container. I have only burned Jet A or K1 kero so I want to make sure I don't use a fuel that will cause problems. Thanks for the help. -Tom

Hi Tom, I haven't heard any adverse result with it and just read up a little about it and seems little to no difference, please go ahead and use it and let us know.

Barry

A few of my friends from Orlando are using the red dye kero and its been fine for years. So you will be fine using it.

Diesel is still by far the best fuel for our engines.

I got five flights in this past Sunday using the red dyed Kero, everything seemed to work the same as Jet A and 1K Kero that I've been using in the past.

Does Kingtech officially recommend diesel over kerosene? If so, why?

Diesel burns a little hotter then kero so that means the pump does not run as hard for the same throttle setting. Also has better lubrication.

I can get jetA for free but gladly pay for diesel because its better for my engines.

Hi Tom, I personally prefer Diesel over Kero primarily because of its convenience and then the cost difference here in Southern Cal, but at the same time, Diesel does yield up to 10% higher thrust and 5% better in fuel efficiency.

Hope this helps,
Barry

I hate to dig up a sore subject with some, but you all know me, I like to share!!
I just received an engine in today that was using good ole AEROSHELL 500. The engine has 658 minutes run time and the rotor is virtually stuck from coking and will no longer spin. Checkout the pictures and look at the injectors growth. Also, the NGV under the chamber has about 3-4mm thick of coking around it. I might have to invest in a sandblaster!!

I just started flying my first turbine, a K120G. My only complaint is the throttle curve.
I understand it comes set at "Half Expo" from you. I would like to try the "Linear" setting but was advised by my friend not too. What is your official response?

Hi,

What is it you don't like? Idle to full time response, or stick position for a given thrust output?
Idle to full time is not going to change changing the throttle curve.
I used to use the linear curve, thinking it would be similar to the glow-gas engine response, thrust proportional to stick position. It didn't work very well, and since my jet was over powered, I had trouble controling the model during taxing, because small stick movement had significant thrust variation in the lower part of the curve. Now I am using half expo curve.

Regards
Eduardo

Yeah, you really don't want to change the curve. I came from giant acrobats and felt the same. I started messing around with ecu settings and transmitter settings. I ended up resetting everything back to stock and just had to get use to the different feeling of the jets.

Now I don't even notice it.

All the trust is in the last 1/3 of the throttle movement. My friends say it will effect the reliable operation of the turbine. If you accomplished the same with the radio throttle curve how would it effect the turbine negatively?

Try it. If you don't like it change it back.

By the way, it has nothing to do with the reliable operation of the engine.

I have four Kingtech engines, k-80, 2x-K-140, and a K-180. All three were set at Half expo. I changed the setting in mine to linear for the "stick feel". No reliability issues with my engines. Like Causeitflies stated, it does not effect the reliability of the engine. Change it and fly.

Linear (means RPM Linear) setting is the most "unlinear" curve setting, you won't get much response out of the bottom half of the throttle stick, another word you will be wasting the throttle stick resolutions. Leaving it at the factory setting of half expo is highly recommended.

Please refer to page 8 in the Xicoy manual, KingTech G2 ECUs are based on the same school of design, in terms of throttle curve options:

Hello
Not sure if Barry will see this because I am pretty sure he is at a event in Florida for week.
You say it want start? What does it do? Can you be more specific? I am sure there are a lot of people on here including myself that might be able to help.

couple of things
first make sure the fuel is fresh,
battery is charged,
If you have that much right and you turn everything on and have the transmitter learned,
once you move the throttle to start the startup seconce what happens next?

does it spin up and? If so does it lite the fuel?

you might make a quick video to show us and maybe we can help

if not you might try to email Barry directly

best of luck

Idris and fly in same club. I will go help out with some troubleshooting - basic stuff - check wires - 're-learn' RC - and come back here with more findings.

Sunday.
