G2 has a new Kingtech branded ECU and GSU which gives it the ability to restart in air should you get a flameout.

Is that the only difference? Also did the G1 have problems with flameouts?

The original G1 Kingtech's used a Xicoy ECU, which in my experience works fine. I have three G1 Kingtech's and have had one flameout in the air in 200 or 300 flights. That flameout occurred on final approach and the auto-restart feature would not have helped.

I have had two flameouts in about 200 flights. One with a K-60G and the other with a K-120G. Both could be attributed to an air bubble in the fuel lines. I was able to land successfully both times. I have never had a flameout one my K-100G. I have a K160G2, but haven't flown it much yet.

Most flame outs occur due to air in the fuel system and are unrelated to the GSU.

If you can get a really good deal one a G model turbine, go for it.

The G2 series also has the new self priming pump in addition to their own ECU and GSU.
There is nothing wrong with the G series that uses the Xicoy ECU.
