Make a Plywood ring about 1/16" larger in diameter than your spinner.

Tack-glue it to the back of the spinner with 1'16" spacers in between them.

Mount the engine, then add 1/4" balsa blocks between the firewall and the plywood ring (you will probably have to cut and shape the blocks as you go to fit around the engine/needle valve/whatever)

Just do the two blocks on the engine sides, and the one on bottom, then remove the engine (you will have to undo the glue between the spinner and ring)

Add triangle stock to the corners, and sand the sides to match the ring, and blend them into the firewall.

Here is a link to the Great Planes Ultra Sport Manual. It gives a very good description of how they do it.

Default 4 Star Cowl

I did a balsa cowl on mine . It looks good but with 3 1/2 sides
its a muther to work on ( I split the nose ring on the o-180 line )
If I ever make another I will try to make a f-g cowl.

C'mon! Give it a try. It's not tough at all. And think of the great experience it will give you!

Default Nope, not hard.......

.........I agree with Minnflyer. It sounds harder than it actually is. In fact, you have more lee-way for error using balsa and a lot sturdier. I'd go for it!

I (yet again) agree with Minnflyer. Try it... If it doesn't work cut it off.
