3 bladed prop for a DLE-20 gasser
Hi
Being new to this sport after years of absence I wonder if any one can advise me
I have recently purchase a Hanger 9 F4U .60 Corsair [HAN2725]
For this I have a new DLE-20 gasser and would like to fit a 3 blade prop
Can anyone recommend a carbon fibre or composite material unit suitable
As this has not been run in I will need 2 sizes
Your advice is greatly appreciated

RE: 3 bladed prop for a DLE-20 gasser
The available selection of three blade props is pretty limited. If you are willing to use a two blade it will be a lot easier to find a match for the engine/airplane and your flying style.
A commonly used two blade for this engine is a 16x8
A 14x9 three blade (Master Airscrew makes one) would be slightly less load on the engine than the 16x8 two blade
A 15x7 three blade (Master Airscrew makes one) would be slightly more load on the engine than the 16x8 two blade

In the gas engine forum I think there is a page on the DLE 30 with the different props people have used and RPM readings. You may want to go there ans see if they posted one for the 20. Three blades are hard to find in hobby shops these days and spinners are even harder to locate unless you order them for places like Truturn.

RE: 3 bladed prop for a DLE-20 gasser
Engel make some small 3-blade carbon propellers.
http://www.engelmt.de/en/index.php
Including:
13.5x13.5 3-blade
15x11 3-blade
15.5x13 3-blade
I think 3-blade propellers are more suitable for larger models, as a way of reducing noise. A 3-blade propeller normally has a smaller diameter than a 2-blade propeller of similar load, therefore the propeller tip speed will be lower and hence less noise. This should not be necessary on a 20cc motor. With that motor you would probably want to use the most efficient propeller available, and that would be a good 2-blad prop.
