Very Nice Larry,
It's not a Waco but at least it has a round engine. I have thought about that Corsair myself a few times. I sent I don't know how many e-mails to Top Flite asking for a Giant Scale P-40 Kit and woudn't you know it they produced an ARF[:@]. If they want me to buy a kit it will have to be a Giant P-40 kit, nothing more nothing less.
Enjoy the build I will be wacthing.

I tell you this is a nice kit. I can not believe the wood in it, and how well it has been punched out. Hey what can you ask, for It Is A Kit. Man there are not many out there any more. The Man wanted it built for him and here I go. I just hope I don't do like a lot of the old fart's do before I get it done

It has been a while, I hope to get some good pic's of the build. I am supposed to get a TFGE 1/7 P51 to build and am going to put it on the same thread. I should be busy for a while. Then I will call this thread a 51 4U

I sure wish you had chosen the Spitfire. That's the one I have my eye on as soon as I finish my SwitchBack. However, I want to see how well the Corsair goes together. Top-Flight looks like a good company to deal with.

Well Tom
I build what the custumer wants This is how I stay in the hobby, building and repairing for other people. Not much time to fly [:@] but a lot of building and repairs.

Thanks for letting me know Larry. I guess there isn't a lot of guys doing that. Anyway, I hope you can let me know how the T-F kit goes together. I don't have a lot of experience with building them with one ARF J-3 Cub, which is balsa, and now this SwitchBack Sr. which is going pretty well so far.

I have been busy The weights that i use are 5lb lead and barbell weights. I pre cut templates to make all joints as close as I can while glueing. It take time and practice to get in the grove and build only 65 years or so.
Well to let you know , I do have a P 40 .15 size that I am building in my spre time.

i can see in the pictures on post 19 that the wing ribs have the little jig tabs on the bottom for keeping the twist out, but what about the rest of the top flight kits, for those of you that have built them? i'm looking at the Spit. for my next project. she won't get in the air anytime soon, due to no motor and robarts for her; i'm still getting used to low wing planes and bipes, so that's kind of a good thing. i was curious before i go out and purchase it, how nice it is in that way. i have nothing to keep the ribs correct, other than a nice flat work bench, and being my favorite WB, i would hate to jack it up.

Most kits I have built from TF have the tab's or a jig to set the wing on. A lot of people buy a wing jig to build on or build one. I go by the design of the wing and make what I need from scrap wood from the kit. You can not believe what you can make from the scrap, That will work as great supports for your build. A little forthought will get you a lot of tools you need with out going into a big expence.

Do I see Ambroid in use?

Can you plank the Corsair? This early TF P40 came out light with sanding and doping the planking.

I noticed the yellowish color of the glue on some of the joints and thought it was Ambroid. Titebond maybe? Anyway...Good luck with the build!
