Default Joy Models and Aerodrome

I understand that Joy Models became Balsa USA. Were Joy models and Aerodrome ever related? Both Joy and Aerodrome made similar Jenny JN-4 kits, are the kits related?

I cannot answer the original question, but here is my effort on the one offered by Joy. Maybe someone else can compare.

Les, you should be able to go into Edit and delete the big pics, then in Edit put it back in. That's what I've had to do ever since RCU went down last week.

Really nice Jenny! It's a nice, transportable size too.

I'm going to be building the Joy jenny this winter. There aren't any build threads in Kit Building or RC Scale, hope you have time for a few questions.

What engine did you use, did you move the fire wall?

What should I look out for during teh build?

What primary modifications did you make other than scale details?

How scale is the kit?

"What engine did you use, did you move the fire wall? "

You are asking me to remember a long ways back, but I will do what I can.

I used an OS 48 Surpass, and I do not remember moving the firewall, but I did have to manufacture an exhaust manifold to bring the exhaust down and out very quickly.

"What should I look out for during teh build?"

As always, slow and easy. Build mentally several steps beyond where you are building, in order to anticipate any upcoming problems.

"How scale is the kit?"

I seem to remember that it was very scale, but older scale documentation is always very suspect. Kit manufacturers usually take liberties in the interest of buildability, and flyability. 99.9% of the observers will never know the difference anyway.

Thanks, I haven't done a tissue and stick build for a very long time, looking forward to it. "Flies like a trainer"?

Not really tissue and dope. I can't even remember what tissue handles like, but seems to me I remember it tearing very easily. This is all silk and dope.

"Flies like a trainer". Don't know about that. It was way overpowered with that 48, and like most draggy bipes, tended to nose up when throttle was applied. Once I got used to it, it was great.

I guess I should have said it's my first non-fully sheated build in a long while. Thanks for the engine info.
