RE: Ultracote color chart??
I'm not sure just how accurate the colors are on Horizon Hobby's photos but what I did, just yesterday, was send them an e-mail with photo attached showing what I wanted to duplicate. Had an answer this AM telling me what to use. You can't beattheir service.

Dont get rid of all of your monkote as it works great for trimming out a plane that has a Ultracote base.

RE: Ultracote color chart??
If you do a search you will find way too many threads about Mono vs Ultra. It's a never ending debate. Mono had to change there formula some years ago due to the EPA. It still works most of the time but some batches and colors will either not stick so well or not shrink. It tends to sag, wrinkle or bubble in the hot sun. Ultra is easier to work with, shrinks well and if you cover the plane and set it out in the hot sun then bring it back into the shop and reshrink the covering a couple of times then apply your trim then the covering will not sag and wrinkle in the hot summer sun.
It's just one of those choice things, some people would never change over from mono and some will never go back to it. I don't use mono for my main color but I do use it for trim. I had to use two rolls of the mono yellow nt long ago and it went down as well as well as ultra and shrunk up great. It did tend to sag in the sun but that's just the nature of the beast. Try them both and make up your own mind. They are both different.

I have always used Monokote (hi temp) for base colors, and Ultracote (lo temp) for trim. The base transparent red and white are Monokote, and the number 5's on the tail and wings are Ultracote.

RE: Ultracote color chart??
I've not had the probs with Monokote that I have read of here, but enough people have complained about it. I have used it since it came out in the early 70s, but I do like the color spread of Ultracoat; the checkerboards and the color change color are pretty cool. I do think that it takes technique to learn to use the stuff whatever brand; Faye Stilley has a few manuals out on film and they are outstanding for the info in them.
