Maximum operating altitude: 6300 m
Autonomy: 1 hour 30 minutes
Armament: 2 machine guns
Crew: 1
History:
Six thousand meters made in 16 minutes. Among the exceptional performance characteristics in the second contest for Adlershof fighter, Fokker V.26/28 revealed the project as the best aircraft presented, this rise time was considered a record. Among recent Fokker fighters of the First World War, the EV type not deny their illustrious predecessors, proving to be a war machine worthy of all respect, fast, maneuverable and very scary, however have a type of engine, the rotary was considered at that time passed.
The EV project was developed by the same Reinhold Platz, who had given birth to other devices considered almost legendary. In his search for simplicity and efficiency, Platz made a series of parasol wing monoplane, fitted with different engines, but all characterized by extreme structural simplicity. The fuselage was a frame structure with steel tubes and the wing, wood relief, was attached to the fuselage also simple pyramidal steel bars. The three prototypes that were presented at Adlershof in summer of 1918 the newspaper had as engines of 110 hp Oberursel UR.II (Aircraft type V.26), Oberursel rotary UR.III the 145 hp and Goebel rotary Goe.III of 160 C.V. (Two units of type V.28) and an engine "fixed" 195 hp Benz the type V.27. The weapons in all, consisted of two machine guns synchronized LMG 08/15 fixed.
It immediately ordered the mass production of the type winner, with an initial order for 400 units. Originally, the aircraft would be powered by a 145 hp Oberursel rotary or the release of 200 C.V. the Goe.III Goebel, but because of delays in the development of both engines, the newspaper chose Thulin, 110 hp Le Rhône in Oberursel UR.II alternative with equal power. The first units of the plane (which, meanwhile, had taken the military designation of EV) were delivered in late July and began operating the Jagdstaffel June 1 week later. Fatally, however, the war fighter's job coincided with a series of serious accidents like the one they had been inflicted on the Fokker Dr.I, in October 1917. In fact, three planes crashed within a couple of weeks, all because of detachment of the wings. EVs were left on land and on 24 August, the commission of inquiry began its work, while production was blocked. Also this time, as in the triplane, not tested approach or structural defects: the landslides were caused by inadequate materials or manufacturing errors. The resumption of production coincided with the change of marking the plane, which was called D. VIII. The commission, however, no changes requested.
This delay led to predictable consequences. The new specimens come forward in the last week of October and the plane began to operate on 24 that month. However, the November 1, 1918, and 85 aircraft were assigned to seven Jagdstaffeln. In his job three weeks short of war, notwithstanding the low power of their engines Le Rhône or Oberursel (who had not been replaced by more powerful types), the D. VIII gave an excellent example of its performance in combat. Though not as agile as the Dr.I triplane, the plane was much more manageable than its direct predecessor, the Fokker D. VII. The pilots also appreciated his good qualities of flight and called it an excellent game

RE: CONSTRUCCION FOKKER EV DVIII A FIFTH OF SCALE
I personally have started with the wings,
Wing construction consists of three parts, the central wing and two, we will begin by the middle, cut to size and clabes the slats into place, where the ribs will be mounted, so that when you paste these all do not move in this operation, glue the ribs into place and make sure they are well squared, and well attached to the different ribbons.

The wing was constructed in the same way we did with the center, previously cut off as soon as the ribbons, and if necessary lijaremos ribs, that are made to measure, the only difference from the central area is that this, is taking thickness decrease towards the edge marginal

Continue the construction of the other seed in the same way as before, ensuring that they are matched in size and shape
