Haven't bought them yet, but was thinking about getting some some 2 and 4 pound scuba weights. These look like they'd be a good fit to me, and although expensive, I could probably make due with only 3-4 of them.

BB's do seem to be a good alternative. Currently I use lead bullets (not lead shot, .45 caliber bullets for reloading purposes) to fill my weight bags. However, I may just buy some boxes of pellets. I like shooting my pellet gun, and this alternative seems like it would conform better to the sheeting of a wing or fuse better than .45 caliber lead bullets do.
If anyone else finds a cheap solution (other than sand, because it's messy and not as dense as lead), keep us posted!
