After studying things a bit, I realized it was possible to simply extend the 5/32" jig rods beyond the outer limit of the jig for the outside ribs. This seemed to work out OK. The second picture shows more clearly how the oustide ribs extend beyond the jig. With this setup, I sacrificed being able to completely invert the wing on the jig, but it worked out fine.
To do this, however, I had to figure out a way to support the center rib without the rods, so I glued on a jig that fit neatly into the adjusto jig's center slot. Looking back on this, I think it would have been smarter to get longer rods because at one point in the build, I realized that the center rib was slightly misalligned, which reguired some sawing a regluing, regrettably.
Dave's plan calls for building each half of the wing at a time on the plan using a piece of balsa to raise the trailing edges to the right washout height.
It tooka while to settle on where to drill the jig rod holes to allign things according to plan, and it also took awhile to figure out what dihidral to set up on the jig (forced me to recal some junior high geometry) since the hight at rib 11 on the plan is the height above the plan plane to the bottom of the rib. On the Adjustojig, I needed to figure the equivelent heights based on the "jig dowel points" which are not at the bottom of the rib... this confused me for a while... it took a couple extra days of thinking time to figure it out.
Picture 4 shows the ply/basla dihidral brace with the pencil marks I drew to maintain sanity...

Question: did you guys stick to the Platt dihedral as shown ( 4-5/8" for 34-7/8" at W11) = 7.6 degrees- it looks high.
Ziroli Zero plans show 4.5" at 37" = 6.9 degrees
Hal Parenti Top FLite 60 Zero shows 6-5/8" for 61"ws or 3-5/16" for 30.5"
I found a Mitsubshi Zero spec on the web that said 6.5 degrees of dihedral.
I also posted this question an anoterh RCU Zero thread at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-w...l#post12373370

Dave Platt Zero Finishing Booklet
Came across your thread and what a beautiful build. I Am getting ready to build the same model and I'm looking for a copy of the finishing manual. Any Idea on where I can score one?

I do have the general finishing booklet somewhere at home. If it is that (a simply typing machine written, without drawings nor images if I remember correctly!) what you are looking for, please confirm and send me your mail address via PM and I will scan and send it to you.
It is must be clear It will take me a few days, as I have to find the book at my library and scan the 20-30 pages.
Best Regards.

Dave Platt Zero
I have a set of drawings for the Dave Platt Zero but no instructions. Is there someone that I could purchase a copy of the instructions it would be very helpful.
The thread on this build was a big help in itself.

Hi folks,
It's been too long. I changed careers and have moved three times since the last posting. My Zero is in two giant crates I built to ship them (my wife calls them coffins) and which are now in a storage unit in Bayonne, NJ... whispering to me in my dreams... "Fly me...".
I have since been practicing on some less expensive birds and my simulator (RF8), preparing for someday when I have space to break open those coffins and fly her. I know I took some pictures of the crates for insurance purposes and will post pictures as soon as I can find them.
