Go to the big Waco thread in Golden Age forum, I bet there is someone there that would like to have it. It would be going to a good home.
Good Luck.
Gary.

I believe the WS for the 1/5th scale is 72", 60" for the 1/6th scale. When ordering the plans, make sure to request the copy of the templates. You should also check out the very large thread on this plane in the Golden Age and Vintage forum here on RCU. You'll find good company on this very plane, some good modifications, and generally more information than you ever wanted to know. Good luck on the build.

Thank you for the info. I will definitly go to those sites you mentioned, it looks like I'll be going wih the 1/5th scale, I think the RCGF32 engine will handle it nicely. I really do love that plane. Thanks again.

Regards AL

I just joined this site to try to get prices on some of the "OMG" amount of RC planes and engines and everything you might imagine.
My father passed in April and he was a builder and flyer all my life.
Reason I am posting is that I found a kit that has not been touched other than opened of a Waco Dave Platt YMF.3.
Can anyone tell me the value of this kit?

One was just sold on Ebay for $177.50

The value depends on how much a fellow really wants one.
Above is an idea of the cost which has nothing to do with your evaluation (value) of the model.

Wow, was a little surprised to see a post here.

I will have to look when i get home Dan, I just finished up the P-47 that I shelved this build for, I will be getting back on this in a few months though. Try the Waco thread over in Golden Age, they may be able to get you what you need today.

How do you join the Pica Waco Brotherhood? I have a 1/5 Pica Waco. I test flew this over 20 years ago. Have the plans and the instruction manual. My friend for 33 years in this hobby passed away. I now own this plane, it is in rough shape. I want to scratch build a new one. I found all the templates for the formers, opened them up, they were hand traced from original parts. I was not able to save to computer. I could use templates, would make it easy to cut out kit. Sure would like to have a new plane. Luv the way this plane handles and fly's, looks. If not guess I can try and dismantle original to make templates. Anyone's help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Daniel L. Not interested in having kit cut out. I like to scratch build everything myself. This link does not open anymore, http://www.houseofmoy.com/waco/ I think this is where the templates were? Thanks again for any help.

Hi Dan,
Try here: http://mrdhud.wix.com/clasicair courtesy of mrdhud, another brother.

This should get you the templates, I haven't used these personally as I have the kit. But they are the same ones that I remember from years ago.

Welcome to the brotherhood.

Wing tube and sockets would be easiest route IMO. If unassembled, even better in which the wing ribs can be drilled for the socket tube. believe wing is Clark Y. will be a little tricky. the hole in center section would be at same location in those ribs. the hole location in each wing panel would adjust as dihedral changes.

I have a build on another site, "RC Groups" in Giant Scale. Robinhood 99. It is current. I made a one piece 99" wing into a 3 piece wing. center section and two outer panels. lot of dihedral. takes some time and patience. you may want to look at build there for idea. I know you mentioned 2 piece. it would be similar approach.

Iīve got your build on RC Groups. Thank you, I will look at your 3 pieces wing.
Did you cover the wing by paper?

Prekin

not sure if understand reference "cover wing with paper". The covering is a fabric similar to full scale aircraft fabric. Same process for application.

hope that helps. hope you can use information posted to make 2 or 3 piece wing.

Iīm not sure how you call the covering material. We call it "modellar paper" or "solartex"

OK, we are talking same. material very similar/like to solartex. only "white". no colors. must be painted. uses separate adhesive applied to framework. then "paper" attached.

material does not have adhesive. material is called, "Stits Lite" similar/like "Stits". that is brand name/common name.

process

adhesive on structure
attach fabric
seal weave/fabric/paper
primer
paint

not sure how all translates

Sometime I hate the language differences between names of our materials, glue, etc.

Does anybody has some factory or another picture of WACO YMF where is visible which parts are covered by fabric or aluminium?

here's some from web, YMF-3 under restoration. you can see cloth areas done. center section top wing showing metal and cloth. fuse has painted cloth in one, other areas would be metal.
