Quite possibly a Goldbertg falcon 56. It should be a .40 size airplane.

I thought the falcon 56 had a high wing? The skylark had a low wing. This one has sort of a high mid wing. It kind of looks a little like an easy sport 40 but that was an arf so I dont know.

Sorry, definitively not a Falcon 56.

In those, the horizontal tail is airfoiled and the vertical tail is solid; the wing goes over the fuse with no part of the fuse over it; engine mount are wood beams extending thru the firewall; and the structure of the wing is different, with full span ailerons and solid balsa wingtips.

I believe that your plane is an Easy Sport .40 manufactured by Great Planes and converted to a tail dragger by the previous owner(s).

Here is the manual of the kit (now discontinued):

http://manuals.hobbico.com/gpm/gpma0150-0152-manual.pdf

It shows that the CG should be located at 4-1/8" aft from the LE.

Specs here:

Sterling models came out with two direct competitors for the Falcon 56 and the Sr Falcon. The Big plane was a Gazariator or something like that. Can't remember the name of the little one, but I'm guessing that is what you have.

Here's the big one

NOW I remember! the Sterling Fledgelling is what you might have!

Don't think it's a Fledgeling as it has all sheet tail surfaces. I agree with Lnewqban, it has all the earmarks of a modified Easy Sport 40. If you do a Google image search for "Easy Sport 40" you will find a number that have been built as tail draggers and they look just like what you have here.

I don't think it's a Sterling Fledgeling. I flew one for several years. The empenage was more rounded top and bottom and had full span ailerons (which could always be changed).

Bears a slight resemblance to a Sig midstar 40

That's an Easy Sport 40 done up as a taildragger. I built 2 of them from kits, very nice flying model. Only difference with yours is that the landing gear is beefed up, stock configuration is a single wire. Go to Tower Hobbies site and you can compare pics of the Easy Sport ARF. Have fun!

I think Free Bird is right. Sure looked like an old Fledgling, but the wing saddle is wrong.

Yeap, GP Easy sport 40. I built one as my second kit and airplane.
