Default Northeast Aerodynamics BelAir *WANTED*

I am looking for NIB Northeast Aerodynamics "Bel-Air" .40 or .60 kits. These kits date back to the early '80's and were recently discontinued.

Kits MUST be NIB and complete/undamaged.

PM me if you have one to sell.

Thanks!

Default Northeast Aerodynamics BelAir *WANTED*

Race:

Do you want it to build, or to collect?

If you want it to build, I'm sure John Marien will sell you the plan, provided he still has the file.

If you want it for your collection of kits, so sorry, can't help.

Bill.

Default Northeast Aerodynamics BelAir *WANTED*

I have built a fair number of BelAir .40's and .60's for other modelers over the years. I picked up a .40 kit for myself at a swap meet last fall and have finally gotten around to getting that together. Such a fine kit!!!!!!!

I do have the .40 size plans....

Scratch building may be the answer, but I'll try the easy way out first...

Thanks for the inputs....

Hi all. Can someone who has a 60 size Bel-Air know where I can attain some measurements to build the stab and rudder assy for a recently aquired almost built except for the tail feathers plane that was given to me? The manufacturer is no longer in business and the prints and assy book shows these pieces as fully assembled when you buy the kit. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated for this seems like a really cool plane to fly. I might even consider buying a complete kit in the box just to finish what I have. Thanks.

Try contacting John Marien at the following email. He has closed the business, but could probably still answer your question. A heck of a nice guy.

Hi Sebo. Actually, if you can give me the dimensions of the stab and rudder pieces that would be a great help! All I need is the width of the wood that was used, a basic 4 point dimension of the horizontal stab, elevators, rudder and vertical stab. That just about does it. From there I can fabricate pretty closely to original looks. I tried contacting John from Northeast Dynamics, but haven't gotten a reply back yet. Thanks for your help.

Thanks so much! I will now be able to finish this plane. Thought it was going in the fire pit. LOL

It is such a shame that John had to quit the business. I've got an unassembled Zeph Air biplane. I really wanted one of his twins. Did John respond to your email? I'd really like to see if he has any plans still available.
Thanks,
John

Hey Racecity. From all the Bel-Airs you built would you consider building the tail feathers conventionally to todays standards or just build it using solid pieces? I'm curious as to where you needed to add your weights. Are these planes typically nose heavy and that is why you build the tail with solid sheets or is that just the way they did things in the 80's?

I built mine from the kit.
the tail is solid sheet 1/4 inch balsa sheet.
Not the real lite stuff but not as hard as rock balsa.
With nothing in it, the plane builds up very light.

Thanks John for your reply. I think I have enough info now to be able to finish this plane. It is a shame your business has closed for it is never a nice thing to hear about in this day and age. []

I have a Bel-Air .40 kit that has been opened, but nothing ever taken out of the box. I'm planning to post it on e-bay in the next few days, but would offer it to you first if interested.
