Royal/Marutaka SBD2 Dauntless Dive Bomber Kit
Have a friend that is looking for plans for a Royal/Marutaka SBD2 Dauntless Dive Bomber kit with an estimated wingspan of 66" or slightly larger.

Thanks for the replies. Could be a Jemco kit. Not much to go on here. My friend says there is nothing in the box except the kit parts, no paperwork whatsoever. Any where we could go to see if the Jemco plans might be available?

Last I was aware the rights to the Jemco Dauntless (AKA Master Scale) were owned by Bob Violett Models. You might also check with Bob Holman as he offered the Complete-A-Pac Dauntless plan which was around 68 inches if memory serves.

It would probably be pretty easy to identify the kit if you posted a pic. As I recall the Jemco kit contained alot of vacuum formed accessories while the Holman airplane probably had nothing more than a glass cowl and vacuum formed canopy.

The Jemco "Master Scale Series" Dauntless SBD-5 (or A-24) specs: Span 64 inches, Length 51 inches, Engine .60 - .90
Options: Retracts, Flaps, Dive Brakes, Retracting Tail Hook, 2 different Bomb Drops, Sliding Canopy, Rear Machine Gun Storage compartment,Operating Bomb Yoke
Had a 5 piece canopy with each piece moulded separate, flaps and dive brakes have all 318 holes already made, scale cowl with dummy engine, 2 crew chairs, foam core wings and other details.
Hope this helps with the identification. If it is the Jemco kit that you have, I still have the original Scale R/C Modeler article on this model written by the late Jim Meister (President of Jemco Models). He won 1st place in the Western Scale Nationals with his Dauntless design.
Soft landings,
Joe
