Andy I put the 1/64 ply on the end like a cap. I also put a piece on the wing tip that is next to the aileron.

I decided I want to do lights on mine, nav. and landing.. I have never done them before so I am all ears if any of ya have experience with them....

Trying to find the exact location of them on a Razorback, links are a big plus...

Where do I get the lighting system, what kind of money is involved? Again, links are awesome..

Just the thought of having mine come across the corn fields on final with full flaps and landing lights down, well I just have to put them in, period!

I finished adding the ply caps andtweaking the flaps and ail, theyare ready to glass.........

I will have the new cockpit at the end of the week along with some other things I ordered for her... My Retracts are suppose to be here with in two weeks, the thought of this bird sitting on her legs has me excited for sure.. The kit box is getting pretty empty that's for sure and that is a real good thing, I am so ready to move onto finishing....

Light arn't to hard except making the lense for the wing tip lights. That took a little more thought. The landing light is a little work also to get it right. The location of the landing light can vary from out on the wing to inside the wheel well. You'll have to find some photo on the plane you are modeling to see where that is. The formation lights are easy and are in the same place on all plans. Cost isn't much, The guy who made mine is no longer in business but I know there are others that can put something together for you. Here are a couple of pic to get you started.

everything is all hinged already so the hardest thing left is hooking up the linkage to the flaps and I think I have an idea to make it fool proof..

Gonna take a few measurements to make sure it will work, then i will share my idea with the group for more input........

Like to here some thoughts on this..

From what I here, hooking up the linkage is a PITA on the flaps and I can see why.. Trying to get it all right on a servo that is mounted to a hatch, just seems like it will suck..

What if i mounted a low profile servo on rails in the wing and just use the hatch as access? I know the servo I have pictured is a retract servo which is no good, just using it for the height.. I know I can get low profile digital soI can program them.. Iset one in and it looks like it will work fine,I think it would be pretty easy hooking up the linkage to a servo that is hard mounted and getting it programed right.. I am running a smart fly and plan on plugging into one port with no "Y"'s. Just gonna be a programming thing to get the end points right and travel adjustments as well as the speed, like setting up twin elv. servos..
Am I missing something here, or do you think it is a good idea??

I didn't much like the mounting of the servos on the plywood covers, I even went throught the whole process but then decided on this aproach. Makes it easy to adjust the servos and adds a bit of security.

I set mine up exactly like the plans called for in the end. I tried to use ball-links and that didn't work very well. The way the plans show the linkage and servo arms allows for a strong mechanical advantage on the flaps, it's just a little tricky to get them set up right. After I got everything figured out there is no slop in the flaps and zero blow-back at full deflection. I also didn't really have to have the radio too far out of wack to set the endpoints.

Been busy finally in the workshop after the holiday madness.
Wing is complete and awaiting glassing.
On to the fuse. Built the switch and air valve access hatch, and now working on the tail gear doors.
Next will be fitting the cockpit, final sanding and begin glassing.
Moving right along and I think I am leaving Jimbo behind......

looking really good............ You sure of pulling away from me, my butt need to get down in the shop this weekend.. I been working out of town, so my shop time during the week in nill.. But the good new is the overtime is going to pay for another plane and a racing one at that, it's gonna have a 50cc twin up front and that's all I am telling you about it for now..

So Doom...........how did you form the hatch cover and gear doors. This is pretty new to me and I'm about to tackle one of two hatchs and could use some help on the tailwheel doors.

Andy, if you go back to the beginning of the thread you can see Redbiscuits laying up some fiberglass to make those parts along with the main gear doors.
Basically you place a piece of Monokote over the part of the fuse you want to make a glass part, then you lay several layers of fiberglass cloath and you use zpoxy finishing resing in between coats to make the glass stick.
Over the top I usually put the clear plastic that I peel off from a piece of Monokote covering and I lay it over everything and hold it down with tape.
Important is that you keep the bottom Monokote and the top plastic wrinkle free otherwise your glass will come out with wrinkles as well.

I'm brand new here, but not new to this build. I think I'm into my 14th month.

I have read many threads concerning how to solve the challenges I faced, yet I find this thread to be the most concise.

After reading the thread in its entirety I found that I'm not the only one left scratching their heads in certain areas.

First let me say fantastic job .. I'm looking forward to getting some glass on mine.

1) I can't decide on how to make the inner doors actuate. Air, servo, spring loaded ? I have read much on the subject. I'm working with Robart air gear and have a EMS sequencer. This sequencer can operate servos or actuate another air valve. I like the air idea using cylinders, yet I feel like I'm getting away from the KISS principle.

The UP3 would have been a good option, but I already have the robart system installed.

I like to set things up right the first time. Any thoughts, easier route, equipment recomendations ?? Specifically what piston travel (for air) is neccesary to open the inner doors? I was thinking 1 5/16"

2) This question is for the gentlemen who is doing the Hun Hunter Scheme (Ron I believe) Where did you get your decal for the cowling? This is the scheme I chose as well. I'm only and hour away from the real one Have seen her up very close
