RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build
I used Dupli-Color Primer/Surfacer exclusively on everything. After the panel line tape has been removed you should be ready for paint. Quality auto primer will assure you that when you start removing masks, the paint won't come with them. I learned that the hard way.
As far as after glassing, you will need to wet sand/prime/wet sand/prime/wet sand/prime, depending on how smooth you want it, maybe one more wet sand.[&:] Then do your panel lines and prime over them with a couple good coats of the same primer, wet sand that back until you expose the top of the tape, and peel the tape off, that will give you a crisp panel line, then you're ready for rivets and paint.
I expect a full report with photo's of your progress!

If you guys are going to have the warbird fly-in, are you going to have it the same weekend as the biker rally. I went to the last fly-in, and it seemed as if everyone went to the rally instead . Was a little disappointed there weren't more people there.

Nope, no biker rally this year. We tried moving it last year to beat the unforeseeable spring weather and winds, but there were a lot of conflicts with other events in the area including the ROT Rally and other flying events.
So, this year we are moving it back to where we have normally had it for the past 16 years and are hoping for the best as far as weather. Look forward to seeing you there if you can make it again beave.

Little progress....
Wing is ready for panel lines, hopefully will shoot the primer early part of next week. We are looking to get some warm weather 40 deg. that is and I will make the most of it I hope.
I started making some access panels, fuel caps and detail for rudder and elevator. I think I cut enough we will see once the lines are completed.
RCU doesnt let me upload pictures.....I will try later...

Not much more to go on my end, glue on the dummy exhausts, glue in the guns, put the canopy on, and do a final CG.
I had to buy a J-Tec pitts muffler, the HobbyKing muffler I bought wouldn't stay tight once the engine warmed up. I think it was the cheap metal that they used to make it with, the lock washers couldn't get a good bite. Oh well......
I was getting max 6450 rpm with the HK muffler and a 22x10 Xoar prop, I rich-end up the high end and brought it down to 6300. After I swapped out the muffler for the J-Tec, the rpm's went up to 6500 without changing the HS needle. The last run without the cowl on, the head temp was reading about 158-165 degrees, now that the cowl is on, I want to see where rpms and temp. goes.
Guess there is no need to even try and post any pics.

Gary, sorry about the HK muffler. I have banned them from my hobby funds, been burned to many times by that crappy company. Are you using red lock tight on the muffler screws? I use the gel red lock tight and the red high temp siliconeon my mufflers and never have a problem. Also I think a 22x8 is a better break in prop for the DLE55 I use the 22x10 after 5 gals of gas. Looks like we are going to have to pop a bottle of champagne soon at the field and christen that puppy. Yea nothing like getting slapped down when you try and post a pic, some day the lights will come back on, just hope it happens soon, I’m starting to get the sweats and the shakes

Okay, so here is where I'm at now.
Canopy done, just need to glue it on with E6000
Lower gear doors on...
Just need some touch up paint....
Cowl and radial installed....
Ignition switch mounted, I used a simple JR switch with a charge lead. It fit real good under the last cowl flap and isn't a big distraction.
