Not sure how you like the new board, but I hate it.. One of the main reasons I liked RCU is now gone, not sure if I will get use to the new RCU......... I been spending time at FG under the same screen name, keep in touch my friend..

I absolutely HATE it! The only forum I go to on here anymore is Jets, and if I could find a better jet forum, that would cease as well.
Perhaps I will get used to it in time, but I doubt it. This looks and feels too much like RCG's, and if I liked the way RCG's is, I would have been there a long time ago when this **** hole couldn't get the bleeding to stop.
Since nobody is here anyway, this will most likely be my next big project. http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/TBMDV8R.html
or this, http://dreamworksrc.com/catalog/Shul...rf-Orangewhite
I got a line on a Turbinator NIB that a guy in Dallas wants to sell. If the price is right, I will get it from him. If he wants to much for it, I will probably get the DV8R. What ever I end up with, a Kingtech K-100 will be going in it. I'm looking at least until spring before a maiden. That's unless my boss decides to pay me what i'm REALLY worth.

For me it's not working. For instance, when you replied to this Tony, instead of taking me to post #1862 it takes me to #1853. At least it took me to the last page of the thread (for now).
In other threads I was subscribed to, it wouldn't even land me on the last page, I would be in the middle somewhere 3-4 pages before the last page. Talk about annoying, I was spending more time looking/scrolling for the last post then is acceptable. Not anymore, I got more to do then that.

Hello?? Anybody home???
Anyway.....it finally happened.
Today at Nick's field I maiden my bird.
It has been a long year and countless hours in the workshop, not so much in the summer due to my job but I have to thanks Nick for giving me the final push to finish it in the last few weeks.
Anyway the porker weighted in at 31lbs dry. Next time I will make sure that I will sand all the primer off before the finish coat !!!
We had a little trouble with the Zenoah G62 up front which it didn't want to hold full throttle. After little troubleshooting from some of the more experienced gas pilots at the field, we were able to have a good running engine at list on the ground.
Anyway taxied in position and off it went.
The plane felt rock solid even in the stiff breeze that was blowing and only few clicks of down elevator needed to trim her.
The engine seemed to have trouble running at full throttle kinda it was little lean, so I flew the test flight at half throttle which it carried the plane around with no problem.
Time to land.....lowered the gear and first settings on the flaps (half way) which made the plane pitch up a little......need to set up flight modes with elevator mix.
Turned to final full flaps and she wanted to climb.
Kept the nose down and with plenty of engine power I flew it all the way to the ground for a good landing.
The wide stance makes me look a better pilot at landing that I really am !!!
Anyway taxied back to the pit, shot the engine off, exhaled .......and it is definitely a keeper.
Just like any other Top Flite Planes I had, this one is fun to fly and really easy to land, if you remember to keep your power on.
Only it needs now is some weathering, guns and wheel covers and she's complete in my eyes.
I want to thank many of you here that gave me inspiration and suggestions how to build this plane in particular to Gary which he started the thread and by far was one of my driving force to complete this project.
Next on the bench is a giant scale Top Flite P-51 ARC which hopefully will be ready by next summer.
Here are some final pictures of the lady:

LOL ...that pony is your dog dressed and a horse!!
Anyway I think Joe is thinking of maiden his Corsair before the end of the year.
If you know when, we can get Tom you and I and make it a little warbird fly in for the end of the year.
Thanks for your help Nick and by the way the sausages smelled delicious today but unfortunately I had a bad stomach to grab one.
Rain check for sure!!

Hey Doom,
Yep! Still lurking here. All I can say is WOW! Fantastic job! I love the scheme, and congrats on a successful maiden.
I'm still plugging away at mine, started riveting with the Mirce finish set and shooting a little paint.
Couple questions.. What paint did you use? and what Prop size(Xoar)? Wood or Fiber?
Best Regards,
Mike

Beautiful work Fabio, and congratulations on the successful maiden. You're right, these planes make us look really good when it's time to land and it always gets a "nice landing" from the pits.
I've moved over to RCG, I'm so disgusted with the bugs on this site, that I have given up. The only thread I am subscribed to is this one.

You're right Bob, I'm not a fan of RCG either, but at least it works the way it's supposed to.
A lot of guys here have brought up the fact that the "notification of a new post" email doesn't even take them to the right page of a thread that they are subscribed to, but the Admins can't seem to fix the issue or even admit there is an issue at all.

This has been a great thread with so many talented builders sharing their experience.
I'm still moving along ever so slowly. This build is not for the faint of heart. 2 Years and counting.
A couple of photos of riveting

Hi Gary,
Thanks. Glad to see your still here. I like the results but its a painstaking process,
a real exercise in patience. I find that when you get to a curved part, like the elevator
tip its faster to pick them up (1) at a time and place them in position.
The clear tape is too sticky at first and they don't want to release onto the
surface your putting them on. Nevertheless, I ordered some more
A couple more pics of panels lines ect.
