I am having a brain fart....
cannot remember what size chartpak tape we are using for panel lines.....
I thought we were using 1/64 size......am I correct in saying that Gary?
Also do you guys have site where to get original chartpak tape 1/64 and not duplicate?
i am having a heck of time finding it online....
Thanks for the help as usual.....

Fabio, yes it is 1/64" . I think the last time I got some was from Amazon, but the 2nd link has better pricing. Not sure it's original Chartpak though.

Thanks Gary...
unfortunately I ordered the same stuff from amazon few days ago and it turned out to be a generic version, more flimsy and not as thick.
I think that if I use it on my p-51 it will not show properly after few coats,of paint are applied.
I need the original stuff, and I think I just found some on eBay even though is yellow in color which it should not make a difference since it is going to be painted and then removed.....
thanks for your help bud!

By the way what kind of engine are you looking for? Did you mean Zenoah G62? If so there are also very good offering on RCU and RCG.
I have it in mine, perfect for the P-47, and if you decide to go with it, make sure you get the cup and spring starter......it is a must !!

Fabio
Fabio,

I am trying to decide on my engine at this point. Do you have any video of your jug flying with the G62? Right now I am looking at the new Evolution 62GXi to be on the market in April, or possibly the new DLE 61.

Thanks,
Bob

I don't have a video of my plane, just pictures. You can probably find plenty of those onYouTube with the zenoah up front.
I am not familiar with the evolution but I also have a DLE55ra for my p-51.
For the money that you will spend buying new you can probably find a G62 new or near new condition sometimes for half of that which it will leave enough cash for other upgrades like better servos, scale items etc....
I personally like the zenoah for their reliability and more so for the fact that you do not need an additional battery for the ignition.
Also p-47 usually are tail heavy and the zenoah with a cup and spring starter gives you additional ballast up front reducing the need to add additional weight.
My plane tops the scale around 30 lbs and the engine pulls it around with authority and very scale like. Plenty of power for any situation.

Gary that field looks sweet! I might have to maiden Angie there. The proposed new south field will be like that with a 800' runway.

Thanks for the suggestions Fabio. I will find video on YouTube and go from there. I would like to save on the motor since the robart electric gear is so expensive.

Hey everyone,
How’s everybody been, good I hope.. It’s good to see this thread still going with the OG and the posse still here… Not sure how yawls winter has been, but it kicked our butts up here this year. Tons of snow and wind along with bitter cold spells that seemed to go on for months.. Yesterday was the first time in a couple months that I seen the pavement on my street…
Everyone’s 47 looks awesome, very nice work and y’all should be proud of the work you have done..

Hey Gary,
I will give you a call this weekend so we can catch up..

I bought the prop hub that comes with the arf, I'm sure it's nowhere near scale, but the price was right. LOL

Hey Guys.. Here's the fun part... Color

Removing the tape

And the result..

Getting closer.....

Picked up a UP3 valve as recommended by several with more experience. I need to
re-do my retract set-up. Can't bear to think that after all this work.. having a belly up landing.

Mike she looks great. You'll like the UP3 valve, + peace of mind. I am with you on the belly landing, went through several on my small P-47 before I bought a UP valve for it.

Please help. I am making the razorback version of the p47 and am having trouble sheeting the razor spine. So far I have cracked 4 pieces of sheeting just trying to conform it to the curve. Needless to say frustrating. I wetted down the sheeting with ammonia and water and I just don't know what to try next. If the sheeting didn't have to contact the stringers then it probably wouldn't crack, but then it would not be securely glued.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
bob

Wet the balsa, some times wet it and tape it to a can and and hit it with a heat gun, then I can place it on the fram with little bending.
