Got any links to a mechanical retractable tail wheel for a plane this size? I can't find one. Thx

TB,
Thanks for the help. I tried wetting and heat on both sides and it worked! Hopefully the other side will work just as well.

What I usually do I take the balsa sheeting and run it under warm/hot running water on both sides in the stationary tub while i gently bend it in the desired shape.
It usually touches most of the stringers, but if it doesn't in some places it still holds the shape.
I use thick CA for glue.
good luck.

Another build question. I have dry mounted the fuse bottom sides and formers as called for in the instructions. Now they say to use medium or thick ca to glue. Is it okay to leave all the parts in place when I glue it? That seems like the logical way to do it, but they don't say so in the directions. I am not sure if medium ca will wick in enough.

Thanks!

I hit it with both thin and med CA, just make sure all is in place and fitting tight, then hit it with thin, and medium CA.

TB,

Thanks, it worked great. I also have some thin aliphatic resin glue called Superphatic that I used in some areas as well. It wicks in about the same as medium Ca.
Attached is a pic before I started the bottom. Just needed to figure out how to include pictures.

Question on the paint mask, Mike how long can you leave it on? I would like to mask my canopy and leave it on until all the priming and painting is done. I would think it would last a while and not become harder to remove with time but I do not have experience with it to know.

T/B

When I did mine it was on for 6 months with no problem when it came time to pull it. But it might be the brand of mask will try to look up what I used as I recall it did not have a long shelf life so I split mine up in 6OZ jars and gave it to members of my club/

Hey Guys.. Thanks for the compliments.

TB... The brand of mask is Bob Dively. I think I got it from Tower. You won't need much, it goes a long way.
I have never left it on anything this long but I think it will be OK. The directions say to spray it on, but I
just brushed it on, two coats, maybe three. If its too thin it is hard to peel.

RW... The guns are made out of plastic styrene tube, with a dowel inside to stiffen it a bit, I used a 6-32 plastic
bolt epoxied in the opposite end and screwed it into a threaded insert in the wing leading edge. You have
to sand the head of the bolt down to fit inside the 1/4" tube. Hope that makes sense.

It's good to hear from you all, looks like spring finally made it. No work on the "Jug" today, had to get caught up
on yard work.

I wonder if the new Roto 85 fsi inline will fit?
Anyone who can help me measure from prop center to bottom of the cowling? Approximately 6 cm from cowling lip towards firewall

Thanks Alf

Hey guys,
I'm looking for deflection measurments on control surfaces for those who have actually test flown their bird.

I know its listed in the manual, but was looking for hands on experience.

Thanks,
Mike

I'm getting mine out this weekend for our scale event. If nobody else chimes in, as soon as I get mine setup I will take some measurements. I fly on one rate, I got all the deflection I could get on the rudder. As for the ailerons and elevators, I know I'm somewhere between what the book recommends for low rates and high rates. Low rates were too mushy feeling to me.
The book is spot on for the down trim when flaps are lowered, so just set the same amount of down trim the book calls for on the elevator.

You getting ready to take her up I presume?

Gary,
Thanks for the quick response. I'm getting ready to glue my ailerons on and I can't get 3/4" downward
deflection as called for.

Wish I was getting ready to maiden. Another month or so.

I would go with maybe the max recommended on low rates and give it some more on high, I don't remember but I used more then recommended and found it to be good. I to fly with on rate once I see what I like.

Well when I set mine up I used the manual settings for the hi rates and set the low's a 60%, with my style of flying I found the hi rates for Rudder and elevators was fine but used low rate on the ailerons to get a more scale like roll. Now after completing the repairs I will have to re maiden so things may change a bit.

Cheers Bob T

On RC Universe I just looked few sections (Jets, Warbird), and ask myself where are other good builders... Now I have answer - some are definitely HERE...

I don't know do you know guys, but on my web site I have project about Top Flite and Meister Scale P 47 also.
For that models, same like for Thunderbolt in some other scale I have some products for more realistic surface...
