I have some parts for a TFGS P-47 if anyone is interested, brand new FS cowl, used robart taile wheel gear, refurbished like new Sierra main gear, and a Jtec muffler for the DLE85

Tony,
What do you want for it?? With everyone having to build out for the DLE, except me. It has me wondering if it will fit mine..

Awesome decision on the Meister, looking forward to seeing you work your magic.. It's always been a goal of mine to compete at Top gun, ever since I was a wee little lad..lol I'm finally at a point in my life to go for it, be awesome to meet one day on the big stage..

the custom muffler is much tighter then the stock one but the stock one fits, with a 1/4" shim from the firewall. The custom one should fit with no shim.

That's an App I could wrap my hands around..
What really sucked was I had every insurance on my phone but theft!
Of course security tapes didn't catch it either..
I don't remember when we became so dependent on our cell phone, but man I was lost being out of town and all.. I couldn't even call my wife, I always just told my phone to call Da wife..lol
I'm making a list of important numbers and putting it in my wallet.. I did get all my contacts back though when I got the new phone..

Hi guys, I just found this thread and it is great! . I am very close to starting my TF 85" P-47 build, and I would like to build it more true to scale than the standard TF build. I have compared the outline to a number of 3-views and also the Brian Taylor plan, and I must say that the outline is a lot better than I expected. The main issues I can see are the cowl is all wrong and the bottom of the fuse is too shallow. There are also some other more minor issues with the fuse. However, the outline is generally pretty good. The cowl is really wrong, though, as the front is much too small and too tapered. It is the main reason that the TF P-47 just doesn't quite look right. I am not sure if there is a more accurate cowl available, but if not I may have to make my own. The other errors should be fixable with wood, filler, etc.

Does anyone know of a more accurate cowl being available?

Thanks, James.

Hi James, FS makes one but it is not any bigger just has a better cowl flap outline.

If your going for a more scale out line you will need to move the tail wheel back a bit. I did that on mine. It is about 3" to far forward.
Good luck with your build.

Hello James, if you need scale details for surface finish on your TF P-47, check this web site: www.nsmodelers.rs

Thanks Tony and Mirce. I am considering the FS cowl, but I may end up making my own. Yes, I am aware of the tail wheel issue as well, I just forgot to mention it. Thanks Mirce, I am also considering your detail kit too.

Hi guys, I´m thinking about this giant kit. Anybody know, where to buy Razorback canopy? And what is the average weight of this warbird?

You can get the canopy through Topflite or Tower Hobbies, I think on average they come in around 30 pounds when glassed and painted.

When you're out of P-47s you're out of fighters
When you're out of glycol, you're out of Mustangs.

I've been plugging away on my TF P47 build for a year and a half. Have learned a lot from this thread (and some others) that has really helped my build! I'm to the point where I need to order fiberglass cloth for my plane. This has been intimidating as I have never glassed a full airplane and I'm unsure of the quantities and type(s) of cloth I need.

I know .75oz is used for most parts and guys tend to use a heavier cloth for the underside? Was thinking about the 4oz cloth for the underside/bellypan? After messaging Gary he thought it would take around 6yds of fabric to do the plane. I thought I'd order a 10ydx38" wide roll of .75oz from here (http://www.thayercraft.com/106.htm) and I found this place for to get a smaller quantity of heaver cloth for the belly pan (http://www.fibreglast.com/product/4_...erglass_Fabric). Are these the right quantities and types for those of yall who have done this already?

Also thought I'd post a couple of (crappy)pics I snapped last night. Just got the prop in this week and couldn't resist putting the motor on and mounting it up to see how it looked.

Thanks!

Josh
