Sorry I forgot my manners.

THANK YOU to all those that contributed to this and other TF P47 build threads. Your advice and knowledge from your own builds were a great help. This was my first large kit and I have really enjoyed the journey and have found a love of building. Many Thanks.

Rick

Hi all, I hope, that this thread is still alive. I´m thiking about this Top Flite P-47 and some radial engine. Which engine is good for this Thunderbolt? Any experience with this model and radial?

I’m still here at least!
The Saito 60R3 has been put into the ARF’s of the Topflite P-47’s for sure and seem to fly them just fine. If you are wanting to build the kit as I have, be prepared for the extra weight. The kits do come out a few pounds heavier.
I love the 60R3 I have in my Stearman, runs great!

Yes, that is what would like to do. P-47 kit. What was the flight weight? Would I have to make some extra holes in the cowl?

Mine weighs in right at 29 pounds (13kg)
It seems to fit in the arf cowl without any problem. With the kit you can adjust the firewall any way you need to right from the start and make it fit.

I also fly the Saito FG-60R3 in my TF P-47. Weighs 23 1/2 lbs without fuel. Flys “scale like”; no speedster. Sounds awesome with the Saito titanium exhaust ring!

What wheels do you recommend for this Thunderbolt? I looked at Du-bro, but they don´t look scale.

I just bought the 5” wheels from Sierra Giant Scale, they look better than the Dubros and are lighter than the Robarts

Im also have Tony Builder fit the Sierra mains in the wing too.Again, so much better than the Robarts

Hello,

I went and converted the TF P-47 Giant drawings into a CAD DXF file and re-scaled all the sheets. I can post them here in a Zip file if any one is interested. This is what is in the DXF

Will it print out at the correct size so folks can cut their own kits?

Yes, everything has been properly rescaled so all the drawings match the correct size of the model.

ZIP file is too big. Have to figure out another way to post the drawings
