Last week I got awaited package. Now I´m thinking about the right warbird. One of the options is get back to my La-5FN and finish the new fuselage another one is TF P-47.
Why I see the Saito FG60 with the Keleo ring mufflers? I studied 2, 4stroke and jet engines for 5 years and remember, that any muffler for 4stroke engines is useless without any effect for power of the engine.

What retracts do you have in your P-47? For Robart user, do not forger mentione if you use electric or air controlled retracts.

Last day I got the package with Robart retracts. Now I´m thiking to purchase also the Eflite one and compare them. The Eflite one would be better due the gear bay doors.

I wasn´t satisfied with the old design of my gunsight Mark 8. It was good when I listed, it was almost 10 years ago, but now I am able to make another one. Better and scale.
Here are some pictures of the design.

Yesterday I took the TF kit from second hand. The guy who started the project desined the wings and fuselage for China retracts. It would be difficult to replaced them and use the Robart retracts. We will see, if they would be good for this Jug. I prefer the Razorback, going to make the ridge.

When I was thinking about TopFlite Giant P-47 I wanted the Razorback. That one I took was build as bubble top. A while I was thinking and tried search some bubble top paint scheme I like. But I decided to convert the jug to Razorback. The formers were still in box, well I removed the sheeting and attached the back formers.

Nice job!
Hard to believe I started this thread 8 years ago. My old girl is still going strong, she’s still the pride of my fleet.

Working on the razor back and fitting the railing for the sliding canopy. It was necessary to add sheeting around the cockpit.

I am working on the new instrument panel. Here is the picture of the template and instruments layout. Yesterday there was an inspection of the fuselage.

Sheeting of the back, starting to look like Razorback. There is spacing for the canopy rails. I will add them, when the fuselage will be glassed.

Here are some actuall shots. I´m still working on the back. Now I´m not sure how to fill in the gap between the canopy and balsa sheeting. I found the two strips of the balsa, but it would be necessary to add another sheeting. Anybody can advice or post some pictures of the TF P-47 kit?

Have a look at post #939 in this thread by doomking. Should be pretty easy with scrap balsa and some filler.

I try to keep scale shape of the back, so there will be one big sheet of balsa wood behind the canopy.

Some progress. The back is sanded. I suppose it would be better to make some update on that kit and design new ribs. The top of the back could be covered by 2mm balsa sheets.

The belly under wings weren´t sheeted. I had to find the balsa sheets and tube and cover the belly. Cowl mounting wood blocks added.

A little more CAD 3D designing. I have the TopFlite cockpit kit for my TF Razorback, but I´m not satisfied with the quality and ABS parts. I decided to make some parts for the cokpit. As you probably mentioned the gunsight is done. Last day I did the trim control unit.

Some simple but necessary parts of the cockpit for today. Turn switch, switch bracket and main switch box.

Some more 3D designs are done. The pedals took me couple of hours, but the oxygen regulator was quite simple. Now I will make the levers for the mixture quadrant.
