I think the Air Tractor would be quite a bit of building for someone transitioning from an ARF to kit building. I feel that AMR may have some other choices in their line of kits that would lead to a greater likelihood of success. Vincent has made some very good points. The Air Tractor is not difficult to build, just a lot of parts. Finishing (Covering and painting) was a pretty big job, not difficult, just took a long time because the airplane is big. Whatever AMR kit you choose to build, I think it will go together easily. Because the kits are designed using 3-D graphics software, everything fits. Should you have any questions or problems, Vincent will be there every step of the way. He was extremely helpful to me whenever I had questions. He even went to so far as to design and make several special parts that where necessary to install the Wren 44 Turboprop.

Thanks guys.. I would start with one of the sticks, but I agree, the moki is really not a good fit for those planes. The 150 sized stick on your website with the "Monster Stick" logos was built by one of the guys at our field.. very impressive plane, and always a hit with the candy drop on family day. If I do this plane, I'd probably rather cover it with Stits and paint it rathen than doing it with film.

Great, been really busy at work and not out flying near as much as I would like.
I was following this thread when he first started it and then with all the RCU changes I had lost most of my thread subscriptions. Things finally seem to be fixed as I am getting notices again. nice to see the project turned out as nice as it did.

(I am building a Pilatus with a Wren turbo prop and looking to purchase a Minz wooden 3 blade. Where did you find yours? Thanks  
On my Pilatus Porter also with a wren turbo in it I started with a 20x12 Mejzlik, the plane on weighs 12kg to much power especially coming into land, so now I have a 23x8 Aoar timber prop, it still goes vertically until you back the power off and I mean vertical, but a lot more managable coming into land

I purchased the prop from http://www.bobshobbycenter.com/xoar.html. They are located in Florida. I am using a 22 x 8 Xoar three bladed prop. The prop is wood. I went for the lowest pitch I could find as I was trying to keep the speed low. Hope this helps.

can you tell me how many degrees of flaps you use for landing? The full scale uses 26 degrees but I find that it causes my plane to float quite a bit on landing. I believe more flaps is required. What has been your experience?

Hi,
i dont use any flaps at all, I find there is enough drag to slow me down, infact I have to land with some throttle managment to maintain correct airspeed. I've had 4 flights so far, 2 in no wind condition and 2 in slightly more wind and all four flights I did not use flaps.
There is another person in Canada who built 401B with moki radial, he too never used any flaps.
Either give more flaps to create drag, or try landing without flaps.
